To further improve the quality and safety of Blacklane services, we’re introducing occasional identity checks for chauffeurs using facial recognition. This means randomly selected rides will soon require a quick verification to ensure the assigned chauffeur matches the booking.
This process does not currently apply to partners based in the UK.
How do I verify my identity?
At a certain point during a ride, you may be asked to provide a motion capture image in your chauffeur app.
It's important to ensure the image is high quality. To provide a usable motion capture image:
Make sure you are in a well-lit area.
Make sure you have a stable internet connection.
Follow the on-screen instructions to perform a smooth motion when prompted to turn your head.
Your live capture will be matched with your profile picture to confirm your identity. Make sure your profile picture is current—especially if your appearance has recently changed. For more info on how to upload a new profile picture, or any other document, check out this guide.
Why is this required?
This is a security measure to ensure that only you are logged in to your account and the chauffeur assigned to a booking is the one performing the ride. It is essential for guests to trust that they are going with the right person, and that the contact information they receive is for the correct chauffeur.
Do I have to upload a picture every time I perform a ride?
You won’t have to verify your identity for every ride. A check will only be requested for randomly selected rides.
What if my identity can’t be verified?
If there are any issues with the upload of your selfie, our Partner Care team will contact you as soon as possible.
If you encounter any technical problems when completing the ID check, please make sure to take screenshots of the problem and provide as much information as possible when reporting the issue.

What happens to my data?
All data will be stored securely and used solely for identity verification purposes.
What happens if I don’t validate my identity?
If an ID check is requested during a ride and you don’t submit your picture, then the ride can’t be finished and you won’t be paid for the service.
If you don’t consent to submitting infrequent identity checks then you will not be able to use the app.
Will a service improvement be created if I don’t verify my identity?
Service improvement opportunities will not be created in such cases whilst this feature is being introduced, but this could change in the future.
Where can I see the results of my identity checks?
The results of your ID checks can be found in the Security section of your chauffeur app from version 1.12.0 on.
