How to complete the chauffeur ID check

Blacklane has partnered with Onfido, a trusted digital identity solution, to enhance the security and efficiency of our chauffeur services. As part of this update, all chauffeurs should complete a quick and straightforward online identity check. To find out more information about this new requirement, check out the FAQ.

Read on for a step by step guide to verifying your identity with Onfido!

When you add a new chauffeur or register as a partner with Blacklane, you will receive an email which looks like this:

  1. Click ‘Verify your identity’ in the email to begin. You will then be invited to start the verification process. Hit ‘Start verification' to get going!

2. First, fill in some basic information and click ‘Continue’.

3. Next, choose your document by selecting the country your driver license was issued in.

4. You must now submit a copy of your driving license to Onfido. You can either:

  • Take a photo of your license using your phone
    or

  • Upload an existing photo from your phone or laptop using a link which will be provided after clicking this option

5. If you choose ‘Continue on phone’, you will be sent a secure link where you can complete the process. Use the QR code and scan the code from your phone, or get a link sent to you by entering your phone number. Alternatively, you can also copy the link directly.

6. Once you have opened the secure link, you will be asked to take a picture of both the front and back of the driving license. You can retake the picture as many times as you like until the image quality is right.

7. Once the pictures of the license have been uploaded, you will then be asked to take a selfie.

8. Enable camera access for Onfido, and take a selfie.

9. Once you have taken the selfie, you will see the uploads page where you can submit your documents. Click ‘Submit verification’ to finish the identity check.

10. Congratulations! The check is complete.
