Multi-factor authentication

Set up guide and FAQ’s for multi-step security

Updated over 2 weeks ago

We’re introducing multi-factor authentication (MFA) to the Blacklane for Chauffeurs app to enhance your security and protect your information.

What is multi-factor authentication?

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a security feature that helps protect your Blacklane chauffeur account. With MFA, you’ll need to provide two pieces of information to log in: your password (as always) and a code delivered via SMS. If you prefer, you can also use your biometric data, like your fingerprint, to login to your Blacklane account.

Once MFA is turned on for your account, you’ll be asked to enter your password as usual, and then you’ll also need to enter your additional MFA information.

How it works

  1. Log in to the Blacklane for Chauffeurs app and tap Security in the You tab.

  2. Hit Enable, then Continue to setup

  3. You will be automatically logged out of your account

  4. You will then be required to log back in to set up multi-factor authentication. There are two options:

  • SMS: Enter the phone number registered with your Blacklane account.

    • You will receive an SMS with a one time code

    • Enter the code when prompted in the app

  • Biometrics:

    • You can add your fingerprint or a picture of yourself (depending on your device)

Resetting multi-factor authentication

If you want to reset the MFA you have set up on your account, please follow these steps in your chauffeur app.

  1. Log in to the Blacklane for Chauffeurs app and tap Security in the You tab.

  2. Hit Reset and confirm your selection

  3. You will be automatically logged out of your account

  4. You will then be required to log back in and can set up your multi-factor authentication again

Removing multi-factor authentication

If you want to remove the MFA you have set up on your account, please contact the Partner Support team via chat or email.

What happens if my phone is lost or damaged?

If your phone is lost or damaged and you can’t access your account, please contact the Partner Support team via chat or email.

When will multi-factor authentication be available?

If you don’t see this in your app yet, don’t worry! We’ll be introducing this city by city, so the authentication feature might not be immediately visible in your app. We’ll let you know as soon as the feature is available in your city.
