All the information you need about switching to the new chauffeur app in February 2025

From February 2025, Blacklane will begin the switch from the old BL Chauffeur app to our new app, Blacklane for Chauffeurs.

Please remember, Blacklane for Chauffeurs is a completely new app, not an upgrade to the existing application, so it is necessary to download the new app from your app store before continuing.

Where can I download the new chauffeur app?

The Blacklane for Chauffeurs app can be downloaded from your app store and is available for both iOS and Android. You can find direct links to the app below:

What’s new in the Blacklane for Chauffeurs app?

Our new app gives us a solid foundation to build on in order to improve your experience. We will be adding updates to the app throughout the year, but initially Blacklane for Chauffeurs provides:

  • Improved stability: A reliable app experience built on a strong technical foundation.

  • Faster updates: A platform designed to deliver features tailored to your needs more quickly.

  • Simplified design: A user-friendly interface for easier navigation and a seamless experience.

Why is Blacklane introducing a new app?

Our old BL Chauffeur app has worked for us all for several years now, and although reliable, we realised it was necessary to make a change in order to be able to make future improvements to the chauffeur experience. Starting fresh with a new app gives us the foundations to build on, and make exciting new improvements to the app going forward.

What will happen if I don’t download the Blacklane for Chauffeurs app?

To ensure there are no disruptions in service, both the old and new chauffeur apps will be available during the transitory phase. This will give everyone time to start using the new app, and allow us to monitor its technical performance. The old app will eventually be deactivated, so all chauffeurs must use the new Blacklane for Chauffeurs app to continue performing rides by the end of March 2025.

I can’t find some of the features that were in the old app, where are they?

Our first area of focus with the new chauffeur app was to establish a strong foundation which we could immediately start to build on. This means that some features of the old app could not be carried over to begin with, but will be added in the coming months, along with some exciting new tools to make your user experience even more seamless.

Are there any changes to the privacy policy?

Yes, the new Blacklane for Chauffeurs app comes with an updated privacy policy, which you can read here.

Will my account information and data be transferred to the new version?

Yes, your account and bookings information will be available in both apps whilst the old one is still active. All your details will be transferred to the new app when it is downloaded.

Do I need to login again or reset my password?

You will need to log in to the new app when you download it, but your login details will remain the same.

How do I report issues or provide feedback on the new version?

Your feedback is very much welcome and can be provided via a dedicated “App feedback” function in the “You” tab.

Are there any tutorials or guides available to help me get started with the new version?

Our Help Center articles and chauffeur training will be updated to reflect the changes to the new app when the transition is completed at the beginning of March.
