Updated over a week ago

Blacklane’s City-to-City service has transformed how guests see long distance journeys, by providing an alternative to short-haul flights, regional trains, and car rental. Follow the tips below to make sure the experience you are providing is the best it can be for this new ride type.

Pre-Trip preparation

  • Fuel/battery: Make sure you have more than enough fuel to get you from the pick up location to the destination. If you are driving an electric vehicle, it should be fully charged.

  • Vehicle maintenance: Ensure the vehicle is clean inside and out, and in top condition. Check tire pressure, fluid levels, brakes, lights, and other essential systems.

  • Route planning: Plan the route in advance, considering traffic, road conditions, and potential detours. Use GPS and navigation systems to avoid any mishaps or wrong turns.

  • Blacklane Attire: As with other ride types, it is important to present yourself professionally and ensure your attire is clean and appropriate.

  • Weather check: Monitor weather forecasts and be prepared for any adverse conditions.

  • Communication: Make sure your phone is fully charged and your charger is available, but not visible to guests.

Comfort and safety of you and guests

  • Comfort amenities: Ensure the vehicle is stocked with premium water. There should be at least one bottle of water per guest.

  • Preferences: Make sure you ask the guest about their preferences for temperature and music. They may also want to connect their device via Bluetooth.

  • Rest and breaks: Ask guests if they would like to stretch, use restrooms, and refresh. During long distance journeys, chauffeurs should take the recommended number of breaks, in line with local/national regulations.

  • Ergonomics: Adjust the seat and steering wheel to ensure a comfortable driving position.

  • Privacy: Respect the guest’s privacy and do not initiate the conversation.

  • Information: Share local knowledge if requested.

Driving techniques

  • Speed limits: Adhere to speed limits and adjust speed according to road and weather conditions.

  • Awareness of surroundings: Stay vigilant and aware of your environment.

  • Consideration for others: Maintain courteous behavior towards other road users and respect traffic regulations.
